ROUTES FROM HERE THROUGH 'HEAR' (WIND QUINTET AND VIDEO)

(6 minutes)
This startlingly original piece was written by superimposing a map of Bristol City Centre over the score of Purcell’s choral anthem Hear my prayer, O Lord. Each instrument 'plays' five different homeward journeys from the Colston Hall (where the piece was first performed) by people working at the Hall.
The piece is composed spatially with the five instruments surrounding the audience, creating complex movement of unison and polyphonic sound. The video by Kathy Hinde follows the mapped routes in multi-split screen as the piece progresses.
